Friday

It's that time of year again: time for The Atlanta Jugglers Association's Groundhog Day Juggler's Festival. This sixth annual edition of the festival is Friday through Sunday at the Grady High School Girls Gym, corner of 10th Street and Charles Allen Drive. The juggling begins at 5 p.m. Friday. Featured activities include the competitions to be held at 2 p.m. Saturday. Contestants will compete for trophies honoring "Most Spectacular," "Most Stupendous" and "Most Incredible" acts. Then, at 2 p.m. Sunday is a performance by participating jugglers. All activities are open to the public.

Judges Leroy Powell. Boyd Lewis and Faye Allen get a first. hand look at the style that would win David Lowe the title of "Most. Stupendous" in Saturday's 6th Annual Groundhog Day Jugglers Festival. The friendly competition was held at Grady High School's Girls Gym.

Have a Ball

For anyone who's ever picked up a couple of tennis balls and proceeded to reduce an expensive ashtray to shards, it's time once again for the Sixth Annual Groundhog Day Jugglers Festival, sponsored by the Atlanta Jugglers Association (AJA). This year's jugglefest will be held Friday, Feb. 3 through Sunday, Feb. 5 at the Grady High School Girls Gym, at the corner of 10th Street and Charles Allen Drive. There'll be lots of public shows and competitions, but the main thrust of the affair is fun.

"We don't take the competition seriously," says Rodger French of the AJA, "the judges don't even know anything about juggling." This year's panelists include Channel 5's Leroy Powell, WABE-FM's Boyd Lewis and Faye Allen of Seven Stages Theatre. Approximately 80 jugglers will display their various talents, according to French, who adds that last year "jugglers came from as far north as New Hampshire and as far south as Florida."

Admission to all activities is free. For details, call Rodger French. And keep the balls rolling.
